Case Study – Library of Birmingham Electrical Installation
It’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to work on a landmark building! The Library of Birmingham opened in 2013 and was positively embraced by its home city, despite some early reservations about the design.
The architect, Patrick Arends from Mecanoo, designed a 10 storey building, wrapped in bands of gold and silver cladding, decorated with aluminium filigree. It was named ‘West Midlands Building of the Year’ in 2014 and has been honoured in the ‘Royal Mail Landmark Buildings’ stamp set.

Creating a Legacy Building in Birmingham
As a Birmingham-based business, this was a major project for us. We take pride in the fact that we brought in the job in on deadline and within the budget, but we’re also delighted to have been involved in the creation of such an amazing building. A record 1.83 million visitors from around the globe visited the library in the first year it was opened, and it remains one of the most popular visitor attractions in the city.
